The Big Day!

Today is the Culinary Rotations group big day; the day where their two guests come in to eat the food their group has made. Through all the hassle and chaos I managed to snag a couple answers out of 15 year old Naomii Genaw from Algonac High School.
SR: So are you excited about today?
NG: Yes I'm excited but nervous at the same time.
SR: What foods have you made?
NG: LOTS of cookies, cut up chicken, veggies, and lemons.
SR: So what are the main dishes for lunch today?
NG: Cream of broccoli, grilled chicken salad, pound cake for dessert, and to drink either coffee. lemonade, or hot tea.

That's all I managed to get before I was kindly asked to leave. Hopefully I'll be able to pop back in later!

Interview with Breanna

Breanna G. is a 16 year old girl from Port Huron South that is in the culinary rotation here. So far in the program she's made all sorts of food like sugar cookies, turn-overs, and no-bake cookies. She's even watched videos on culinary arts and has gotten to taste what she has made. Talk about lucky! Tomorrow they are making omelets and next week they are preparing food for their banquet for their two guests of their choice.

Even though it sounds fun, you still have to work. At the end of the day they all have to take time in cleaning which really doesn't take that long at all. Instead of just one person cleaning a spot it's usually two or three, on wipes and disinfects, the others take dishes, pots/pans to the dishwasher and pots/pans washer and the other puts other miscellaneous things away. She said her favorite part of the day is scooping cookies out of the bowls, they usually make around 500 cookies a day! She also said that it was very hard to describe the group and culinary arts rotation. "It's fun but I just don't know how to describe it." she stated to me.

Idea's what to write on.

Right now I'm not too sure what to write. I know that they learn to make different foods and snacks, how to sanatize things, and how to keep the kitchen in tip top shape. They are having a banquet at the end of the two weeks for the parents to enjoy the foods their kids have made in the two week rotation group.

Some questions for the interview(s) will be

1. What all have you done so far in the program?
2. What foods have you made so far? Do you know what you will be making, if so what?
3. How long does it take to clean up everything before the end of the day?
4. What is your favorite part of the day?
5. How would you describe the program?

That's all I have for now. Hopefully I can think of more soon.

About the Culinary Art Rotations

Ok, so I decided I'd get the scoop on the Culinary Arts Rotations first two week group. When I get the pictures and interviews they will all be posted on here and the pictures of the people in this program will be used in the slidshow.
